Palmtop Resources
Palm™ and other palmtop computers are becoming ubiquitous around the UCDMC campus. UCDhousestaff.com can provide a central repository for data files that can make life as a resident easier to endure.
Please note that some of these resources are encrypted, since they should not be released to the general public. Before you can use them, you'll need to request a decryption key. A single decryption key will work for all the files.
The files are in various formats, compatible with Palm/Handspring and Psion/EPOC devices. Want to advocate for your favorite platform? Let the Webmaster know.

- When I was oriented (1996), I received twenty-one pounds of paper. I still have it all. I still haven't read most of it. One of the more interesting bits was the housestaff manual, which I suspect most residents don't ever read. Download it to your palmtop and you can peruse such regulations as "housestaff shall have a minimum of two days off out of every fourteen" while you're waiting for that stat CBC to come back.
- Decryption key required.
- Data is in Aportis format
- Download the .zip file.
- Still wondering what to write on your lab requests? Includes a short list of "meta codes" (such as V82.9: screening, unspecified), a medium-sized list of primary care oriented codes, and long complete lists of diagnostic and procedure codes.
- Data is in tab-delimited format
- Download the short lists as a .zip file.
- Download the complete lists as a .zip file.
- You never know when a patient might need this information. Put it in your palmtop, and you'll have it when you need it.
